Tony trained as a Professional Quantity Surveyor before moving over to the contracting side of the industry.
He became a member of the C.I.O.B. having achieved an HND in Surveying.
After working for 11 years for a large Doncaster contractor, he decided to set up his own construction company. He met up one Friday night with John Watson, who he knew from College days and outlined his plans.
John thought it was a good idea and suggested they join forces. In the cold light of day, next morning, they still thought it was a good idea and Clayfield Construction was born.
The business was opened for business on 26 July 1976.
John trained to be a Quantity Surveyor at a large professional office in Doncaster and progressed from being a Trainee to become a Senior Surveyor.
He met Tony Craven at a Round Table Charter Dinner where they talked of their future. Both looking to move forward, they agreed to set up Clayfield Construction Limited with Tony controlling the sites and John running the office and preparing tenders.
With their qualifications and knowledge of construction, they quickly developed the Company and gained a reputation for quality and fairness.
John still prepares the Bills of Quantities for the various Partnerships the Company is involved with.
